Developing industry-leading genetic breeding stock.

As we research regional poultry trends, we continue to develop the industry’s leading genetic breeding stock and poultry products that meet market segment needs.

Today pedigree breeding is based on both traditional methods and new innovative technologies. By monitoring the performance of individual pedigree birds, we’ve developed the industry’s leading genetic breeding stock and poultry products that meet market segment needs.

Cobb geneticists have recognized the importance of efficiency in converting feed into meat for more than 30 years. This strategy, combined with Cobb broilers’ unmatched ability to perform well on less expensive, lower nutrient density diets, has reduced the cost of producing chicken meat worldwide.

Customers recognize the competitive advantage of Cobb broilers in achieving the lowest cost per kilogram, or pound, of live weight. Cobb broilers have always been known for their high meat yield. In countries where consumers have a wide choice of value-added, deboned chicken, there is a demand for broilers that can produce the highest eviscerated and breast meat yield.

In other parts of the world there is more emphasis on maximizing chick numbers and livability. Often these broilers are sold in the live market, which does not have the same requirement for high meat yield. Future trends indicate that feed costs will continue to play a critical part in customer decisions when it comes to fast food, tray pack and live markets.

Cobb selection programs will continue to emphasize efficiency and feed conversion as high priorities in the development of Cobb products.
